From fossil evidence, palaeontologists have surmised that Coelophysis' legs and feet were long and streamlined, suggesting it was able to run at speed. Coelophysis was the model upon which the later, larger predators were based. It has also become the accepted view that from these later theropods evolved a class of animals still to be seen today; birds.
